All Study and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy

Only studying without any physical activity of playing is actually detrimental to a kid’s physical and mental development

Edutech companies have been capitalizing on the psyche of the Indian parent. Most parents expect their kids to be the next Brin or Page. For them, education (not learning) is most important.

Along with this, the pandemic has encouraged most edutech companies to market their content leveraging the fact that the kids are at home.

It is a double whammy as far as kids go, as playing outdoors is not encouraged – the fear of contracting the virus.

Thanks to this pandemic, obesity in kids is on the rise, increasing the chances of ailments and long-term negative repercussions.

According to experts playing is key to “building thriving brains, bodies, and social bonds―all-important in today’s world.”

Research shows play can improve children’s abilities to plan, organize, get along with others, and regulate emotions.

In addition, play helps with language, math and social skills, and even helps children cope with stress.

I have not seen a single business catering to the unmet need for physical activity at home for kids.
