Hearing, Listening and Cutting the Noise

Listen to the Voice. Ignore the Noise

You have been bombarded with information, different opinions from different sources.

I follow simple logic – what is relevant and trustworthy is voice. It is also that little voice inside of you that helps you go through a journey called life. The purpose is to guide you and help you navigate.

Noise, on the other hand, reeks of selfishness, is irrelevant or not trustworthy. These are the distractions that form impediments

Look for more voices around you so that you tackle both professional and personal life better. You need to sift through to make sure that you get more voices rather than noise.

You cannot think properly when there is too much noise so make sure that you are not distracted. Noises impose themselves and are a huge burden to carry

Also, try to make sure that you are a voice and not a noise to others

Do You Listen Carefully to What You Hear?

Hearing and listening seem to serve the same purpose, but the difference between the two is significant.

The dictionary defines hearing as the “process, function, or power of perceiving sound; specifically: the special sense by which noises and tones are received as stimuli.”

Listening, on the other hand, means “to pay attention to sound; to hear something with thoughtful attention, and to give consideration.”

Hearing is more physiological and it is the act of hearing sounds. It can be involuntary also. You can recognize a sound. Listening is when you put an effort to understand what it means.

Listening requires focus, and it also means paying attention to the nuances of the sound/ words, the emotion behind it, and the intention it is delivered.

Hearing is simple and basic and in a sense, unidimensional. Listening is multidimensional.

The more you listen, the more you will succeed in both professional and personal lives.
